Cultivating a Fun and Diverse Sustainable Wardrobe with Kristy Drutman

As an environmental activist, digital media strategist, and founder of podcast and media series, Brown Girl Green, Kristy has made sustainability an integral part of her life. That, of course, includes her sense of style. Kristy has figured out how to show up as her full self in clothes that reflect her sustainable mission and her personality.

“I spent a long time uncomfortable in my body – I despised tight clothing, and always felt like I had to fit into a mold of what other people expected me to be. I felt like an outcast a lot as a kid, and as a young woman I’ve fought ruthlessly to reclaim that. I am allowed to be both comfy and classy – I can show up as my full self, and also can be taken seriously. I wanted this collection to show that sustainability can be fun, can be diverse, and can look super cute.”

This feels exactly like the kind of lipstick I’d want when I roll straight out of bed and need to look cute in 5 minutes. It’s classy, but not trying too hard, which makes it a perfect lip color to get me through my zillions of zoom calls. Also, they don’t use any plastic packaging!

More From Kristy

A cause I'm into right now...

Environmental justice is significant to me because BIPOC communities all across this country today are having their air, land, and water poisoned. When we are talking about sustainability we have to always re-center & consider the voices/stories/communities who don't have access to being "eco-friendly" and we have to always think about why that's an issue, and what we (those with privilege and access) can do to address that.
